In coagulation studies, trisodium citrate is employed as an anticoagulant. By forming compounds with metal ions like calcium, it inhibits the coagulation cascade and acts as an anticoagulant. Trisodium citrate anticoagulation is reversible.
According to guidelines, buffered citrate is present in YAVAC® & YALAB® Citrate tubes:
The citrate solution functions as a buffer for YAVAC® & YALAB®. Consequently, no extra buffer materials are used since they may negatively impact laboratory analysis.
Special test procedures, like the platelet function test PFA-100®*, can also be performed with our Citrate tubes. Therefore, special tubes and the related extra expenses are not required.
It is often known how important it is to use the proper blood to additive ratio for coagulation samples. Accurate coagulation analysis depends on the right fill amount. A mark designating the minimum fill level is included on all YAVAC® & YALAB® coagulation tubes.
The citrated blood can yield various plasma standards for coagulation analysis.
It is recommended to gently invert citrate tubes 180° and then back 3 to 4 times.
