Without the need of sedimentation pipettes, the tubes are made for blood sedimentation. Direct blood transfer into the tubes is followed by eight to ten end-over-end rotations of the tube.
The tubes need to be mixed once more right before being put in the stand for measurement. The results are read an hour or two later. The stand features an adjustable zero point for height and may accommodate up to 10 tubes. The measurement outcomes are consistent with the Westergren approach.
Gently invert the ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) tubes 180 degrees and then flip them back 8–10 times.
